Artist statement:

My creations are deeply personal — an attempt to decipher the babble in my brain and wade through everyday chaos toward a sense of calm. Play and discovery are constant companions in my studio, guiding each layer, mark, and decision. Through my work, I often uncover perspectives and emotions I wasn’t consciously aware of expressing. The creative process is filled with both challenges and discoveries, but just as often, it offers small, sweet victories. My compositions reflect my own personal journey, and ultimately, I hope they convey a sense of happiness, connection, and joy.

Bio:

Kelley Carman splits her creative time between studios in St. Louis and her family farm near Paris. She draws inspiration from the dramatic light and ever-changing landscape surrounding the farm, where she enjoys the freedom of rural life alongside her husband, Powell Carman, family, and friends. Her layered, expressive paintings reflect a balance of playfulness, movement, and quiet reflection rooted in both environments.
